Yet another modern Iranian architectural marvel that has recently become one of Tehran’s marques. Tabiat Bridge (‘Tabiat’ translating to ‘nature’), is Tehran’s largest pedestrian overpass that connects two of Tehran’s popular parks (Taleghani and Ab-o Atash) together, over the Modarres highway. Later becoming the winner of several awards, including world renown New York based architectural competition: Archaizer A+ Awards, the Tabiat Bridge was designed by Leila Araghian as part of a local competition.
What took an entire year to design is, in Leila’s words, “a place for people to stay and ponder, not simply pass”. The inspiration of her bridge comes from classic Iranian combined with modern architecture. The bridge itself has a very convex geometry with many bends and curves, resembling the flow of nature. On the bridge, are multiple seats and benches, in place for visitors to sit on and enjoy the marvelous views while travelling between parks.
